Haiti: 2011
Early November, 2011
Lighthouse Church is again sending a Global Outreach Team to Haiti to help with rebuilding and recovery work after the January 2010 earthquake. Haiti received a great deal of disaster response immediately after the earthquake but now, almost 2 years later, relief efforts are still needed. Many Haitians continue to live in tents and lack basic necessities. The Team's mission this year will focus on construction and medical projects. The Lighthouse Team is being led by Michael and Keli Thorne.

Haiti 2010 Team Accomplishments
We arrived in Haiti on Wednesday morning, after a night of safe travel. We were then picked up from the airport and taken to the missionaries home where we were staying. They gave us a tour of the facilities and then took us to the church property where we were amazed at what they had accomplished. In fact, as we were walking up they were pouring concrete for the chicken coup that Lighthouse Church funded. We were so moved, that after flying all night with little sleep, we jumped right in and started working that afternoon. We were excited to be there and join in.

Here is a list of things we worked on during our time in Haiti:
- Built some school desks for the children and leveled some ground
- Sent a group to a medical clinic to diagnose people with illnesses and prescribe medication
- Leveled ground for a talapia farm
- Poured cement and made pavers that the Haitian people can potentially sell as a way for them to make a living
- Washed and sorted donated garments for a clothing give-away
- Helped at the medical clinic
- Placed pavers so a tent that doctors sleep in isn’t filled with mud when it rains
- Made cement pavers
- Built more forms to help increase paver production
